Trauma and PTSD

How do you know if trauma from your past is affecting your life or contributing to your symptoms? Trauma refers to a broad spectrum of critical events in a person’s life. There are shock traumas such as accidents, natural disasters, surgery, serious illness, death of a loved one, or assault. There are also ongoing traumas such as abuse, neglect, multiple losses, or chronic illness.
These events may affect you immediately following a critical event, but often trauma symptoms don’t show up for many years. If you have a history of difficult relationships, suffer from depression, anxiety or panic, have trouble with sleep, or struggle with emotions, the underlying cause may be unresolved trauma.
In recent years research has taught us a great deal about the Triune Brain and how the brain and body respond to trauma. This research has led to innovative and effective ways of healing the symptoms caused by trauma by a system involving the integration of thoughts and emotions with body responses. It is unique. It is revolutionary. And it works.
